Jon's Run 5k - May 9th, 2009

Let me preface this post with some clarification.  I ran on behalf of Yvonne Kizerian who was not able to run.  I was registered in her name.  I wanted to be timed, because I'm crazy competitive like that, and was not registered to be timed.  I grabbed a chip, a timing device, anyway and thought nothing of it.  I finished in 22:34 and thought I came in sixth.  Turns out, since I had a chip and wasn't registered to have one, it malfunctioned somehow and said I finished in 19 minutes something putting me in first place!!  I was in shock...thrilled but shocked.  Yes, I did receive a $100 gift certificate to Roger Soler's Tri Sports store for running illegally.  To keep a clean conscience, I called and told them the mix up and wanted to know what I could do.  The guy, Edgar, said he would find out.  That was several months ago.  Still haven't heard from him.  So today, I took my certificate to the store and got the Asics 2140's.  They fit my foot like a glove.  Now I have to win (for real) to make it complete!  Nancy Smith's mother in law Nancy took these photos.

The Jon's run is for SIDS.  After having Kylie, I couldn't imagine just losing her, not knowing why.  They release balloons in honor of infants who died from SIDS.  It was pretty emotional.  People were wearing shirts to honor their little ones and I couldn't help but hold on to Kylie a little tighter.

It was so hot I had sweat dripping down my face and into my mouth...salty...yuck!  Not the ideal way to rehydrate oneself.

Kylie was a trooper, even in the heat.

I was really focused on getting done so I could get a drink of water!

I must be checking out my entourage...Jon and Kylie!

Run Forest...run!!!  Official finish time 22 minutes 34 seconds.  This time actually placed me third in my age group and sixth overall for females.
